Jonah (part 1)

For this message on Jonah, we had a very special visitor - Jonah himself!  The prophet tells us the beginning of his story, and then our pastor follows it up with his thoughts.  This Sunday we focused on chapter 1 of the book of Jonah.  In this chapter the prophet hears the call of God and runs the other way.  Today we talked about reasons to run from God, ways we run from God, and what the consequences are when we run.

Lessons from 2 Timothy 3

This is the second part of a set of messages (unfortunately the first one was lost), on the importance of being in God's Word.  2 Timothy 3 is a prophetic passage on what Christians will face in life.  Today the focus is on verses 14-16 where Paul is encouraging Timothy to continue in God's Word.

The Truth Shall Set You Free

Humanity is obsessed with finding the truth.  For Christians truth is not so far away, Jesus talked about truth a lot.  This message looks at some of the things Jesus said about truth in the book of John.  Particularly focusing on Jesus' prayer in John 17:17 where He prays for God to "sanctify them in truth..."  What does it mean to be sanctified in truth? Today's message looks at one of the toughest warnings of the New Testament.  In Revelation 2:14, Jude 11, and 2 Peter 2:15 the church is sternly warned against the teaching of Balaam.  Who was Balaam and why are we warned so strictly against his teaching?
